Absolute poverty is rare in modern industrial societies, though it is widespread in many less industrialized societies. The poverty that exists in the richer countries is mainly ‘relative’.

Describe difference between absolute and relative poverty?


“Poverty is a state in which resources usually material but sometimes cultural are lacking”. The measurement of poverty is differ for different place and time

  • Absolute poverty is that when people does not have sufficient money to fulfill basic resources like food, clothing, shelter etc. which are primary requirements for survival
  • According to Relative poverty if you have enough money for survival or fulfill basic needs and you live in expansive neighborhood and compare to them you cannot afford luxurious things then you could still said to be relative poverty.
