Explain the Fartlek training with advantages and disadvantages.

(i) The basic principle of Fartlek training method is “periods of fast running intermixed with periods of slower running”

(ii) Practicing fartlek training method makes our body versatile, because of the sprinting intervals. These method keeps our heart rate up and allowing us to get good cardiovascular workout. It makes us a better sprinter and a better long distance runner.

(iii) If one is not properly trained, then increasing pace and then lowering it back down can creates cramps in his legs. He should be sure to breathe in through nose out through mouth. This will prevent cramps from occurring.
