When an economy does develop?

Explanation

The division of labor and specialization is referred to as Occupational Structure. Economy gets more complex if the division of labor is high. The economy develops when the occupational structure develops i.e.. more specialization in the economy.

  • Preliminary stage: Preliminary stage is of economic growth. The workforce is engaged in agricultural and allied occupations tend to decline with the growth of the economy.
  • Higher economic growth: With the observance of higher level of economic growth further there is reduction in workforce engaged in the primary sector.
  • Process of economic growth: Workforce employed in the tertiary sector is more than the workforce in the primary sector.

How population growth and poverty are interlinked?

Explanation

  • Population growth reduces the per capita income which is likely to reduce the well-being of the people, thus it increases poverty.
  • Due to high population the pressure on land increases which leads to landlessness and increases poverty of the densely populated nations.
  • Increase in population also poses a threat to the child health, education, poverty in the next generation.

Reduction of poverty will only be caused by the intervention of the government. The government is required to act towards the reduction of poverty by framing policies.
