In Centralized Database all data is located at a single site. Whereas in case of Distributed Database the data is stored on several computers.

i) The biggest advantage of a Centralized Database is that since there is only one database file, it is easier to get a complete view of data. Managing, Updating and Backing up Data also becomes easier in case of Centralized Database. The productivity gets slow down due to bottle necking involving multiple users.

ii) As the Distributed Database involves multiple database files so users won’t interfere with each other while accessing or manipulating data. One of the disadvantages of the Distributed Database System is that there is data replication for each of the different database file.

Firmware is a programme stored in a ROM that cannot be changed easily.

i) The Read Only Memory is preloaded with data along with software that never changes.

ii) Firmware is responsible for providing the essential instructions to a device how exactly it should communicate with the other computer hardware.

iii) It is stored in the flash ROM of a hardware device.

iv) Few examples of firmware are computer peripherals, consumer appliances and embedded systems.
