Unicasting is defined as the sending of a message from a source to a single destination node. Unicasting is used in situations where we want to get contents from any server.

Multicasting is defined as the message sent to the subset of other nodes. Multicasting is used in situations where there are multiple receivers of the same data like in case of Video Conferencing.

Broadcasting is defined as the sending of messages to all the nodes in a network. Broadcasting is used used in Local networks, for examples DHCP and ARP.

List three tasks of an operating system.

Explanation

Booting is one of the main functions of an operating system. Booting refers to all those initial background processes that a computer undergoes before a computer starts booting to the desktop.

To protect user data operating system makes use of the password protection. The operating system also prevents any unauthorized access to programs and user data.

An operating system also handles the information storage through its file management technique. Keeping track of where information is stored, user access settings along with status of every file is also the responsibility of an operating system.
