Explanation

  • Chat rooms: It is the area on the Internet or other computer network that can be used by users to communicate on a particular topic. This is a virtual extension of real-world human interaction. Chat rooms are the online spaces where users communicate with one another through text-based messages. Chat rooms can be private as well as public.

  • Cookies: Cookies are the files that reside on our computers when we visit any website. These cookies can be used to store bits of information with the website. The web servers can use these bits of information at the time of processing our sessions.

  • Pharming: This is type of cyber-attack that can be intended to redirect a website’s traffic to another, fake site. It can be done either by changing the hosts file on a victim’s computer or by exploitation of vulnerability in DNS server software.

  • Virus: These are the malicious software program loaded onto a user’s computer without user’s knowledge and then they perform malicious actions. These viruses can replicate themselves by modifying other computer programs using suitable codes.

  • VoIP: This is also known as voice over IP. VoIP is the transmission of voice and multimedia content over Internet Protocol (IP) networks. This converts our voice into a digital signal allowing us to make a call directly from a computer. For example WhatsApp, Google Group Chat, Facebook Video etc.
