Plasma

  • 55% of the blood.
  • It consists of proteins, of salts, digestive and excretory products etc. , and 90% water.
  • The proteins mainly include albumin, globulin, and Fibrinogen.
    • Albumin is the maximum protein in the plasma but has minimum molecular weight. It maintains colloidal osmotic pressure of the blood.
    • Globulin protein can be or type. It makes 2 to 3% of plasma proteins. The and -globulin bind with the hormones to transport them. The γ-globulins form antibodies.
    • Fibrinogen is about and helps in blood clotting.
