Describe in Detail

Aisha bought 30 meters of cloth at a cost of 90 . She sold 25 meters of the cloth at 6 per meter and 5 meters at 4.50 per meter.

(a) Calculate the profit she made.

(b) Calculate this profit as a percentage of the original cost.

Explanation

Here, Aisha bought 30 meters of cloth at a cost of 90 .

So, cost price CP = 90.

Now, she sold 25 meters of the cloth at 6 per meter: 25×6=150for25meters

She sold 5 meters at 4.50 per meter: 5×4.50=22.5for5meters.

So, total selling prices SP = 22.5+150=172.5

(a) Profit=SPCP=172.590=82.5

(b) Percentage of profit of the original cost 90 :

So, 90=100%

Then, 82.5=?

82.5×10090=91.67%profitsheearnoftheoriginalcost.

Describe in Detail

Solve 0.4928

(a) In standard form,

(b) Correct to 2 significant figures,

(c) Correct to 3 decimal places

Explanation

Here, number is 0.4928

(a) For making standard form of 0.4928 we need to shift the decimal point left to right one times which will give: 4.928×10 .

(b) We need to correct 0.4928 to 2 significant figures (all non-zero digits are called as significant figures) which can be: 0.49 because here after digit 9 there is 2 which is not greater than 5, so 1 will remain same.

(C) We need to correct 0.4928 to 3 decimal places which can be: 0.493 in which we have to consider three numbers after decimal point and the second number will be round up on the basis of third number.

Here, it means if third number is 5 or more than 5 which is 8 here so second number will get roundup and be 3 from 2.
