Which type of reflex it is?

Explanation

Such type of reflex are Primitive reflexes which originating in the central nervous system that are shown by normal infants. It shows as early as 16 weeks in utero and persists until five or six months of age. When an entity is placed in the infant’s hand and strokes their palm, the fingers will close and they will grasp it with a palmar grasp. The grip is strong but unpredictable, though it may be able to support the child’s weight, they may also release their grip suddenly and without warning. The reverse motion can be enhance by stroking the back or side of the hand.

Why reflex in infant is necessary?

Explanation

Reflex is of great clinical significance, especially in terms of the detection of spasticity. It is useful to know normal or abnormal responses of an infant. Grasp reflex of the hands and feet is mediated by a spinal reflex mechanism, which appears to be under the regulatory control of non-primary motor areas by the spinal interneurons.

Define modification of roots? What type of modification of root is present in mangrove trees?

Explanation

Many times roots are changed or modified to serve some other functions like to provide additional support, used as food storage etc. Mangroves trees are mainly present in marshy area. In mangrove plant roots come out vertically to the upper part of ground. These are hollow roots and known as pneumatophores. They facilitate exchange of gases in the roots.
